ONE LITTLE GOAT is North America’s only theatre company devoted to modern and contemporary poetic theatre. Founded in New York in 2002, and based in Toronto since 2005, the company is acclaimed for its highly interpretive, provocative approach to international plays.

In March 2009, One Little Goat presented the English Canadian premiere of Someone is Going to Come by Norway’s Jon Fosse in a new Canadian translation. The production was hailed by The Globe & Mail as “21st-century Beckett... played with creepy charm and impeccable comic timing” (J. Kelly Nestruck), bringing this play by one of the world’s leading living dramatists to new audiences.

In 2007, One Little Goat premiered Antigone : Insurgency, by Artistic Director Adam Seelig, at Toronto’s Walmer Centre Theatre. A radical, post-9/11 reworking of Sophocles’ tragedy, the play was a top theatre production of 2007 in NOW Magazine and received a Dora Award nomination.

One Little Goat presented the English-language world premiere of Ritter, Dene, Voss by Austria’s leading playwright, Thomas Bernhard (1931-1989), at Toronto’s Alchemy Theatre in 2006. Hailed by the Canadian Theatre Review as “flawless,” the subsequent 2007 American premiere in Chicago was Newcity Chicago’s #1 production.

Since 2002, the company has presented the English premieres of radio plays by Israel's preeminent modern poet, Yehuda Amichai (1924-2000), at distinguished venues in New York, Philadelphia and Toronto. The radio plays include To Love in Jerusalem, The Day Martin Buber Was Buried, Bells and Trains and, lastly, Killing Him, which has also been published and recorded by Poetry Magazine.

In 2004 One Little Goat premiered All Is Almost Still, by artistic director Adam Seelig, at the 78th Street Theatre Lab in New York, which was a Sunday New York Times featured play, and for which it received a Nancy Quinn Fund Award from the Alliance of Resident Theatres NY.
